Well, there are two Aspen cafes that are probably a bit sick of me. The last couple of days saw me frequenting one or other of them while I worked on a number of things, primarily finishing writing a paper. I’ve focused on little else but finishing it up so that I can get on with other things, such as my various other projects, and also to allow me to pay attention to the interesting talks coming up in the workshop tomorrow. It’s a companion paper to the one my student Tameem and I released last week (see here) on superconductivity and external magnetic fields. We found a set of solutions to some very difficult equations, and while last week’s shorter paper discussed their properties and what it means for the physics, this paper is a longer, more detailed account of how to find the solutions. A sort of “try this at home” manual if you like. We hope people will find it useful for their own research in this area.
Gosh, I’m rather tired. I think that’s it for this blog post…

Be sure to wear some stout gardening gloves in the [tex]\xi=1[/tex] case. The vortex solution in that case is very sharp and you can cut yourself on it if not careful…

I will definitely try it at home :). Thanks. 🙂
