A Little Behind…

Well, here are a few thoughts:

(1) I’m behind on pretty much every deadline. In addition to the externally set ones (article to finish, class material to prepare, etc), I’m behind on those I’ve set myself.

(2) An example of the latter is the fact that I am two weeks late bringing out the film “Laser”, the followup to “Shine a Light”. The semester started, and all the time I thought I’d have to sit and cut a trailer for it and record some music to go on it never materialised….

(3) …Until the last 24 hours. I cut together some images into an interesting (I hope) sequence, and just now finished recording some music onto it. It is more enigmatic than the last trailer, or at least that is the intention. It is being crunched on by YouTube right now and when it is ready I will release it to tease you to return for the full film. I expect I’ll release it very soon, maybe breaking my internal promise to go for a Friday release date on all of them.

Isn’t it funny how things work out? Just as I got reasonably good sound levels worked out for recording (still not so great… one of these days I ought to get a proper microphone) the quiet of the evening/afternoon began to fragment. The fan on the computer decided to come on, people started wheeling their bins around outside to prepare for pickup tomorrow (although they are wrong – Labor Day means a day’s delay), people started walking their dogs (which then bark at each other) and so on and so forth. I think I managed to get something reasonable recorded with only a little in the way of clicks and clacks.

(4) Oh, randomly: A note to people trying to contact me on facebook. I really appreciate you reaching out, but… Call me old-fashioned, but if I don’t already know you, don’t make facebook your point of contact with me. I will not respond. See the contact page or my departmental home page at USC.

(5) I’ve a blog post or two that I wanted to write (about some events, and about movies and films) waiting in my head for me to find the time to write. No doubt by time I do it the freshness of the events will have gone. Sigh. Well, there’ll be others, I suppose….

Actually, rather than continuing the list, I think I ought to break for dinner and then get on with writing on the article (deadline last week), and then get to writing some class material for tomorrow’s ten o’clock.

As they say back in the old country… It’s all go…
