It has been quite the busy period the last few days, so much so that one is tempted (but not overwhelmingly) to neglect to take note of wonderful things like the discovery of a planet in the Alpha Centauri system, or the awesomeness of my group of students in my graduate electromagnetism class who all did quite well in the midterm I set them. But I took note. Monday, going home after a long day, I noticed a guy who just decided, in the middle of the packed subway train of people, to ride sitting down on the floor, slumped against the wall, right at my feet.
