This might be a bit late for some of you, but since it’s rather good I’ll mention it anyway. Recall that I was discussing various “top n of the year” lists that came out in various publications over the last few weeks. Well, I thought that the Physics World one, a list of twelve (one for each month), was rather nice. I saw it only recently*, and so I’m linking to it. They do a nice summary of the piece of science, or science-related issue, and then give links to a number of stories that they did on it over the year.
Enjoy.

Yes, they really did a nice job compiling, in a way, the entire year of 2007, showing only the highlights, using which you can reach the details. Very nice, indeed!
And I also agree on the clumsiness of the news on budget cut. I hope that this will be the worst thing will see, the sort of a disastrous minimum of budget planning for science and physics in particular.
P.S.: I am gladly surprised seeing a reference to my post! I was so surprised to see a mail notification about a pingback pop up on my screen while working. First thing that came to my mind “Wait, I didn’t write anything O_o”!
But jokes aside. I am glad that some one actually reads what I write — this means I have a reason to continue.
Yes, it is sad indeed… a warning to us all – whatever field of fundamental inquiry we are involved in.
Cheers,

It’s unfortunate that #12, the science budget cuts in the US and UK, makes the list. That is certainly a major story, but what a sad way to end the year (and start the new one).
