Weekend Hunter-Gatherer

Well, I’ll leave the hunting aside and focus on the gathering. Some results, from Sunday’s Hollywood Farmer’s Market:

The market was about the same as it usually is every weekend, even for Memorial Day weekend. How is it usually? A great street party, basically, with excellent food everywhere, people wandering around and talking to each other, musicians playing, children laughing, etc.

So, no change there. Excellent.

Your picture has such an autmunal vibe – raise the song of harvest home. Plants are beautiful, and nourish the soul. You can eat them with a relatively clear conscience as well.

When I was a math grad student at the University of Washington at Seattle, I was told that there was an anthropology student who was living off of foods obtained by h&g on campus. Supposedly he drew the line at eating squirrels. But I really don’t know if this was the case or not. The topic showed up in a science fiction book and could have been morphed into an urban legend.
