My friend, The Universe co-contributor, and colleague Amy Mainzer (JPL) is rubbing gloved hands together in the chilly night air up at Vandenberg. Well, ok, if not this very moment, she probably will be at various points this evening and into the wee hours of the morning. The launch pad for WISE (the mission on which Amy is deputy project scientist) is set, and everything is ready to go! See my earlier post about what WISE is about, and go to her recent blog post to learn about the timeline of scheduled launch events for the Delta II rocket (early launch prep picture above right) to take place in not so many hours, along with places you might follow the launch live. It is very exciting! Keep your fingers crossed for Good Luck!

Actually, now you point that out, I can see the similarity to the setup I have in Area 3…
