The conjunction of Jupiter (top), Venus (middle) and the waxing crescent moon (er, bottom) over Los Angeles last night. There’s Earthshine on the moon as a bonus. Quite magical. (Apologies for the poor photo, but this sort of more detailed shot is where the optics on my versatile little Canon SD1000 can be found wanting.) (The four bright moons of Jupiter were easily picked out with a telescope I had to hand as well… you can see them over the following nights with a telescope or moderately good binoculars)
Did you get to see it?

Thanks.
Surprisingly for the Spanish Atlantic coast we did get to see it. There was a break in the clouds just as Venus started to show from behind the moon. A really lovely sight!

I was buried under the annual freezing fogs of winter here, but i was on the phone with a dear friend in the Anza Borrego desert (west of Havasu). She described the incredible beauty and wonder to me, and the moons of Jupiter as well. What a nice moment in time.
Just barely saw it here in Denver tonight… Moon sliding in and out of the haze. Better tomorrow, maybe, though it won’t be as close a grouping. There are more beautiful shots at spaceweather.com, including some of the Moon occulting Venus (visible from some parts of the world)!
Lovely photo!

I thought they were going to be closer for viewers in the U.S. Hmm…
Anyway, I did get to see it. Pic’s here.
