Here are some shots from my point of view of last night’s speakers putting their points of view about the theme “Point of View”.
The event was a reasonable success, in that people seemed quite engaged, and lots of them stayed to the end (hard to do for LA audiences, I’ve found) and there was excellent conversation over coffee and (very good) desserts afterwards. There’s something about struggles in journalism (The Nation’s Amy Wilentz), the techniques of film making (USC’s Jon Boorstin – with clips from Hitchcock’s Notorious to illustrate), and lots of details of the sex lives and female-dominated societies of the Bonobos (USC’s Amy Parish) that draws people in. Especially the sex, it seems. People kept commenting on that. Odd.
