Just noticed that 4 years ago to the day I did a post about #LEGO and #LittleBits, and coincidentally today we tinkered with them for the first time in a while…
Hard to express my feelings about this news. Quincy Jones is a massive part of the foundations of my formative years (in so much music across genres and media). Inevitable passing, of course, but no less sad… Thanks for the music and inspiration Quincy!

Will listen to “Dancing in Your Head” cd today. Moshe wrote perfectly above: own distinct sound, like no other.

I think she joined forces with Coleman for a little while, might be interesting to look that up, I haven’t heard that music.
Moshe – yes! I love Geri Allen’s playing. Discovered her way back in my Princeton days when I spent a huge amount of late nights in New York.
Jealous, I need to travel to hear any decent music…but I did get to hear Geri Allen, who is amazing in her own right. Did travel for that one…
Moshe – now trying to remember if it was his 2004 concert I saw in LA at the Disney concert Hall (with Marc Kamionkowski) or later. I think he was with Charlie Haden, for sure… What a night that was!

Yes! I love this! This particular trio of musicians are among my favourites.
Sorry, it is from “Etudes”, I was misremembering. Here is a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aI-L0HjXNbc

I was always awed and inspired by him, how many people (in any field) have their own distinct sound, like no other? (Incidentally, my favorite “Lonely Woman”, out of many, is the one with Geri Allen, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian, from the Montreal Tapes).
@BlackPhysicists @asymptotia thank you. Haven’t seen enough tributes and mentions of him today in my feed!
