Actually, this new tool is pretty old school, and I love it! There are times when I want to have a change of venue while doing rather detailed work for The Project… perhaps go sit in a cafe for a change, instead of at the drawing desk. But when not at the drawing desk, I could not use the lovely large illuminated magnifying glass that I have on a stand attached to it. So the other day I bought a cheap but remarkably useful tool – a portable glass with a little LED lamp in it for illumination! It’s on a nice cord that I can put around my neck for safe keeping and easy retrieval while working… It is perfect! Sometimes the simplest low-tech tools (by today’s standards) can make a huge difference. (And yes, the temptation to pretend it is a monocle is hard to resist….)
