While waiting to pick someone up to give them a ride from A to B, I found I had 15 minutes to kill. I decided to do a quick sketch, so parked and looked out of the window and saw a nice view of a house on the corner. So I tried to capture a bit of what I saw in my notebook, using a ball point pen. It is right alongside my computations in my current project, so adds a bit of variety to the pages. I used inkense watercolour pencils and a water brush to splash on some (incomplete) colour when I got home…

I love this. Being a Southern California native, buildings like these, with the red tiles and palm fronds, feel like home. Well captured, Clifford!
There’s a professional quality watercolour for a book, magazine or newspaper illustration. Would make a cheerful, relaxing painting framed for the wall, too.
