The first camellia blossoms of the season are appearing in the garden. A pleasure to see, and a reminder to get working on certain gardening tasks for the oncoming Spring!

Hard to express my feelings about this news. Quincy Jones is a massive part of the foundations of my formative years (in so much music across genres and media). Inevitable passing, of course, but no less sad… Thanks for the music and inspiration Quincy!

Camellias always make me think of La Traviata. Will have to go listen to some Verdi now. Lovely photo. Thanks.
On this side of the pond, we’re having some seriously cold mist, which a woman in a sandwich shop described as “Jack the Ripper weather”.
Cheers,

Lovely photo, as usual! Makes me miss my camellia bush in Riverside, CA — it had such a powerful and wonderful aroma. Here in Chicago the only thing I can smell today is soggy streets, so I really appreciate your floral photos and the fragrant memories they bring. Thanks for sharing!
Interesting: our camellias, here in Pasadena, started their season about a month ago. A couple of them produced an abundance of fruit this summer: quite interesting construction, with big seeds in the woody capsule.
Flowers. In February. You so live in California.
Wow, that’s a mild climate in California. I’m going to visit America sometime if I can.
You’re absolutely right! Thanks. Changed.
