Been a bit tough to find time for any serious gardening effort recently, due to… you know. I anticipated this, however, and one of the things I did back in December was prep some open spaces and liberally sow a bunch of wildflower seeds. Then I just left them to their own devices (watering on some of those particularly hot stretches of Winter days, exceptionally). I’ve been watching the patches with interest recently, and sure enough, the odd flower began to appear. Now there’s quite the variety. I’m very curious to see what else comes up. Very inspiring…

Had my first proper afternoon of gardening of 2015 today. Mostly culling spanish bluebells.

MG – Exactly. But they are, more or less. (A bit of mussing up the surface and throwing down some compost here and there to improve it. Then sow and forget. Except for those ridiculously hot days we had on occasion where you might water.) So yes, effortless except for that. (i.e., no weeding, thinning, transplanting, digging deep holes, mulching, training onto frames, chasing squirrels, skunks, birds, rats, possums, spraying for insects, covering in nets…. my usual gardening fun.)
