The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
– J.R.R. Tolkien.
Still a favourite. Was on the first page of my PhD thesis, way back in 1992. Feels like my mission statement, even now. Anyway, there I was working on a computation and I plotted these three curves (you’ll hear why soon) and there it was. The Road.
[Update: Hmmmm.. also, cast your eye up to the header of this blog. Maybe it was just a sign that I needed to do a blog post…?]
