Prizes

mazzuchelliWell, indeed there were no chocolate fountains. But the event was good nonetheless. It was a pleasure to be in the LA Times building for real, (instead of gawping in the lovely lobby as I’ve done on previous occasions), and it was an excellent ceremony. The reception after had lots of old friends and some new and several interesting conversations. The list of prizewinners is here. I was most pleased that the Dirac book won, and that, in the newly established graphic novel category, David Mazzucchelli’s excellent Asterios Polyp won. It was a clear winner, in my view. A masterpiece for sure, by someone who’s work I’ve loved for a long while.

Ok… I’m off to play with a campus full of books!
