In a panel at the Quantum to Cosmos festival called "Do we still believe in science?"  http://www.q2cfestival.com/play.php?lecture_id=8015 journalist Natalie Angier mentioned this moment, pointing out that the Obama daughters declared this night to be one of the most exciting nights of their lives.  Angier suggested that this kind of event can peak curiosity, promote an amateur interest in science and can "bring people into the world of discovery," ultimately helping more people understand science.</description>
