It was pretty awesome, and I saw quite a few people using it...to be fair, in neighborhoods where students and/or hipsters reside. I'm glad somebody made the Calabi-Yau joke so that I didn't have to. A friend of mine entered a bike-sharing scheme for the USC campus into a competition today and when he showed up at the display booth he'd been assigned... there was another entry next to his (entirely due to an alphabetical ordering accident) proposing the same sort of thing (not as impressively, I say, but I am biased...). It's been so popular that they had to ramp up the schedule of placing new bikes and stations, and I read a news article that several cities in the NE US have inquired about having Montreal and its contractor run bixi systems for them. It can definitely work out!
