Remembering Uncertainty

Gosh, look what I found on YouTube, quite by accident. It is video of the first Uncertainty event I did with science writer KC Cole way back in 2006, and was one of the first Visions and Voices events at USC.

It has as features (about 20 minutes each) Jonathan Kirsch on Monotheism (and how it actually isn’t, really), some opening thoughts by moderator KC Cole, her interview of a physicist (er, yours truly) about uncertainty in science -particularly Quantum Mechanics’ Uncertainty Principle (and why it is really misnamed), and actress Chloe Webb who does a monologue and then brings on some other players to do the famous Abbott and Costello routine “Who’s on first?”. It was a hugely successful event, and I still have fond memories of it. See my (novella-length!) post on the event here in which I describe and unpack things in some detail.

Enjoy!

At the risk of being too frequent a commenter, again I “submit”.
    Bravo, Fantistico!
Such a wonderful event this “Uncertainty”
Thank you for finding it on You Tube “by accident”. ( Hummm…leads into a much longer dialogue to theorize, perhaps another time…Is there really such thing as accidents….? )
Thank you again for sharing this event here in your blog.
Though not in attendance physically, I am thrilled to experience it vicariously through you and this medium of internet, by your graciousness in making it so easily accessible.
Intriguing speaker, this Jonathan Kirsch and yourself also Mr. Johnson! So much to reveal, I believe I will replay once more for pure enjoyment! Very funny, “Bu-Jew” I love word play! I could go on forever about the joy of discovery in word play, but of course, I won’t do that here today.
After replaying once more, I will go on to read your ‘novella’ as I am “certain to enjoy your discernment of this Uncertainty Event”
    Gracias Amigo!

There’s a pause button and a scroll bar. You’re not required to view it all in one sitting.

    Cheers,
