		<description>I think it's great that the Nobel seldom recognizes Gringos for Lit. prizes, mostly because we *are* too insular and it frequently seems to be the only way to get one of us to read something by a foreign author.  As for adult fiction, I rarely read it outside of short fiction in the New Yorker because I prefer science fiction and nonfiction.  In the last few years, I discovered that within science fiction, I generally prefer young adult science fiction and fantasy to anything written for adults.  My current favorite authors are Scott Westerfeld and Jonathan Stroud.  None of the authors I read would ever be considered for a Nobel Prize.</description>
