Hi,

Thanks.

You know, I don't think I've seen them in Griffith either. Curious.

These guys were further East, in fact. Upper Arroyo trail in the San Gabriels.

Best,

Did you photograph these checkerspots in the Sta. Monica Mtns.?? I've been searching at Griffith Park for them w/ no luck (though they're common west of 405...

[...] Either way, the butterflies (different varieties from the ones -the Chalcedon Checkerspots- that I showed you yesterday, I think) are going to be very happy about this. And there are several more blooms to come. [...]

That's really incredible without an SLR, cameras have come a long way (not taking anything from the still hands etc.).

Very still hands, waiting for the wind to die down and the butterflies to get settled. I just used the only digital I have, which is not an SLR, but just a small (and my now, horribly out of date) pocket one: The "Digital Elph", by Canon. The Powershot S230. It has a macro lens setting for closer shots.

I do mean to get a digital SLR one day (there's a huge amount that I can't do easily with this), but there's quite a bit that can be done with the simpler cameras.

Thanks!
